Behind the scenes of a luxury villa shoot
Scouting, light, drone, editing: a day filming a luxury villa, told from the inside by the AchMedia Real Estate team.

What does a luxury villa shoot look like from the inside? Behind every one-minute film lie hours of preparation, patience and precision. Scouting, waiting for the right light, drone flights, dozens of shots, editing: here is a day of filming told from the inside, as the AchMedia Real Estate team lives it, from Alsace to Marrakech.
Scouting
Everything starts before the camera is switched on. Scouting is about understanding the place:
- Touring the property with the owner, room by room.
- Identifying the highlight: the view, the pool, a room, an architectural detail.
- Checking the orientation, to know where the sun will be at every hour.
- Checking the drone constraints: zones, obstacles, neighbours.
- Imagining the film's route, from the first shot to the last.
Good scouting avoids improvisation. It means every space can be filmed at its best moment.
The morning
The morning is often devoted to the interior. The light is soft, comes in through the windows and reveals the volumes. The team films at eye level, walking slowly, as on a real viewing:
- The entrance, the first contact with the house.
- The living spaces, to show the volumes and the flow.
- The kitchen and bedrooms, with their details.
- Close-ups: materials, objects, light on a wall.
Each shot is repeated several times until the movement is perfectly smooth.

Late-afternoon light
In the afternoon, the team prepares for the most anticipated moment: the end of the day. That is when the light turns golden, pools sparkle and terraces come into their own.
In Saint-Paul-de-Vence, at Villa St. Maxime, this moment let us film the pool surrounded by sun loungers and parasols, with the hills behind. The late-afternoon shoot is often short: a few dozen minutes of ideal light that cannot be missed.
The drone
The drone comes in at several moments of the day: for overhead shots in the middle of the day, and for reveal shots at the end of the day.
In Eschau, our team spent a morning above Villa La Buena Vida: top-down shots, slow orbits around the roof, an approach from the garden. The movements are slow and steady, because a drone that rushes cheapens a property. Read our article on real estate drone video.
Editing
After the shoot comes the edit, where the film really takes shape:
- Selecting the best shots from dozens.
- Building the route, with a strong opening and a final high point.
- Cutting the rhythm to the music.
- Grading the colours: warm tones, deep blacks, never garish saturation.
- Producing the formats: main film, vertical versions, short clips.
A one-minute film is the result of this long selection process. It is also where we make sure the geography of the place is respected: the buyer must be able to find their way around the property.
The team
Behind every film there is a team: filming, drone, editing, production and distribution, led by its founders, Noa Harel and Nassim Bousri. A team on the ground in France, Morocco and Thailand, with offices in Paris 8th and a studio in Alsace.

The equipment
A luxury villa shoot relies on equipment chosen for quality and discretion:
- A camera able to film in high resolution, for reframing and both formats.
- Stabilisers, for perfectly smooth movements.
- A drone, flown by a registered operator.
- Lenses suited to interiors as well as landscapes.
- Plenty of batteries and cards, so a beautiful light is never interrupted.
But equipment is not everything: it is the team's eye that decides every shot.
The unexpected
No shoot goes exactly to plan. The most common surprises:
- Wind, which prevents a drone flight.
- A cloud passing just as the sun sets.
- A neighbour mowing the lawn, harmless since the sound is not used, but they may appear in shot.
- A forgotten detail: a parked car, a garden hose, a closed shutter.
The team adapts: it moves a shot, improvises another, comes back for the right light. That is also why scouting and preparation matter so much.
From shoot to distribution
Once the film is edited and approved, a new job begins: distribution. The film is published on our accounts, shared by our network of creators and our partners, cut into clips and brought back at the right moment. This step is what turns a beautiful film into results: views, enquiries, viewings, bookings. The places filmed by AchMedia Real Estate have been seen by more than 100 million people this way, without any paid advertising. Read our guide to property video.
What the owner prepares before we arrive
For the day to go as smoothly as possible, we ask the owner for a few simple preparations:
- Tidy rooms, with no personal items in view.
- Garden and pool cleaned the day before.
- All lights working, inside and out.
- Cars moved out of the cameras' view.
- Access arranged: keys, gate, alarm, locked rooms.
These preparations save hours of filming and avoid reshoots. Our preparation checklist covers every point.
Filming abroad
Filming in Morocco or Thailand adds a few steps: checking local drone rules, adapting to the climate and light, planning equipment and travel. In Marrakech, the warm light of the Riad O'Zeen patio guided the whole shoot. On Koh Samui, the sunset on the facade gave us the most beautiful images. Each destination sets its own pace, and the team adapts to it.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a luxury villa shoot take?
Often one day, sometimes more for large properties, to make the most of the morning and late-afternoon light.
Does the owner need to be there?
It helps at the start, for scouting and access. After that, the team can work on its own.
How many shots are filmed?
Dozens, keeping only the best in the edit.
Can you watch the shoot?
Yes, with pleasure. Many owners enjoy seeing their home through different eyes.
Does the owner approve the film before it is published?
Yes. The film is shown to the owner before publication, to make sure it meets their expectations.
Can you ask for changes to the edit?
Yes, within the agreed limits. The goal is a film that looks like you and serves your project.
